Last Saturday we joined the queue at a Deal Bookshop book signing. The book in question is a wonderful cookery book called The Joyful Home Cook by Rosie Birkett packed with delicious sounding recipes, lots of which feature fish and shellfish.

Hake with white beans, fennel and courgettes, barbecued bream with onion, sumac and runner bean salad and crab with tarragon mayonnaise are at the top of our list to try.

Rosie wrote much of the book on the Kent coast and she says in her introduction (page 11) that she “couldn’t help but feel inspired by the incredible haul at the local fishmonger Jenkins & Son”.

Rosie is a regular at Jenkins & Son and we’re delighted to have inspired all these fabulous dishes and to see beaches of Deal and Walmer featured in the lovely photography in her book.
